Editing key texts of the Later Middle and Early Modern Periods of Islamicate Intellectual History
This call for applications pursues a novel approach to one of the fundamental problems of Islamicate History, and Islamicate intellectual history in particular: With the support of the Alexander von Humboldt Kolleg of the Islamicate Intellectual History of the Later Middle and Early Modern Periods at the University of Bonn, scholars are invited to submit a proposal for the critical edition and/or translation into English of a key text of this period. With an estimated 85% of the texts of the Later Middle and Early Modern periods remaining unpublished, basic research ("Grundlagenforschung") is required to make accessible key texts. In the case of Islamic Studies such basic research means indeed preparing critical editions of primary texts based on a careful selection and comparison of the extant manuscript witnesses of relevant texts.
In a time and world where critical editions are not the stuff that attract financial support, this is a unique opportunity for those scholars for whom solid philological work means something. Applications for the completion of an edition that has already been begun are also welcome.
With this, first, call for applications, we invite scholars to apply for two different strands of residential fellowships, one (i) for an already identified work that we believe deserves publication, and one (ii) bottom-up proposal for the preparation and publication of a critical edition of a text freely chosen and proposed by the applicant. The texts should pertain to the period 1200-1600 and can be written in Arabic, Persian, or Ottoman or Chagatay Turkish.
(i) Call for applications to prepare a critical edition of one of the unpublished parts of Ṣadr al-Sharīʿa’s (d. 747/1347) Taʿdīl al-ʿulūm. Applications are particularly encouraged from such scholars who have previously worked on Ṣadr al-Sharīʿa and/or have already started preparing a (partial) edition, though entirely new projects are equally welcome. The length of the fellowship depends on the reasoned timeline proposed in the application.
(ii) Call for applications to prepare a critical edition and/or English translation of a relevant text freely chosen and suggested by the applicant.
Eligibility: Scholars of all nationalities are eligible to apply. Applicants should hold the Ph.D. or equivalent in hand by the time of the start of their scholarship, usually in October of each year, and must prove excellent knowledge of the academic field, historical context, and literary language in which was composed the work they propose to edit, together with a thorough understanding of, and preferably prior experience in, reading and editing Islamic manuscripts according to the latest academic standards.
Duration: While Fellowships at the Alexander von Humboldt Kolleg are usually for the duration of 9 months, the length of the fellowships can be adjusted to the actual time needed for the critical edition of a given text, depending on the time necessary for completing such a project as reasoned in the proposal.
Fellowship: In addition to a monthly stipend, this research fellowship will provide successful applicants with working space as well as access to the various libraries and other research facilities at the University of Bonn. We shall also be happy to facilitate contact with other colleagues and research institutions in Bonn and in Germany. Depending on the experience of the applicant, a stipend equivalent to in the amount of an Alexander von Humboldt Post-doctoral Research Fellowship (2.650 Euro/month) or Alexander von Humboldt Senior Research Fellowship (for scholars with a university post or equivalent) plus travel to and from Germany, and financial support to acquire the relevant manuscripts will be awarded. Information about support needed for the acquisition of relevant manuscripts should be provided together with a reasoned budget at the time of application.
The Qualities of the Shia'h
Imam Ridha peace be with Him said: Our true shia'hs are those who submit to our orders, carry out our directives and dissent from our enemies. He who does not enjoy such a characteristic is not one of Us.

Directives from the grand Ayatollah Shaykh Ishaq Fayyadh may God prolong his life, Relayed by his son, during his visit, to the Unites States of America in April 2012
@AbodeofWisdom
The narrations encouraging believers to hold fast to the faith and not be fooled by the worldly (life) are many. However, after this introduction, we will now focus on the following points:
1-- It has become clear from what we hinted at that the Shia individual, the believer, is a caller (to the way of God) and is someone who has been entrusted in every place which he/she may reside. If this individual is vigilant in staying away from sin, and diligent in the faith which he/she practices, then (know that) lofty character and vigilance for God are not gained together except in one who has been intensely sincere to God. At that point, souls will be inclined toward him/her naturally and his/her words will be accepted. That is because his/her actions are proof of his/her words. Lost and confused souls are comforted with tranquil souls and they turn to them, even if they do not act as they act. This model of a person in humanity is prized by every society because the individual integrates within (the society) which feels safe (regarding him/her), not fearing his/her actions. Some western civilized societies, today, are vibrant with certain virtuous qualities which have become an aspect of the social norms. Such qualities are considered in selecting potential citizens. If that be the case, then the entrenchment of such qualities in the souls of believers can play a role in preferring them for citizenship. That would allow the believers to become a reason for the (various) nations (of the world) to enjoy this faith. It would lead them to things beyond what they aimed for by it. They would become aware of the true blessing of Islam, of faithful devotion to the Exalted God, the One, the All-paramount. It would become (a source of) glory for them. Granted, a believer would only do so for the motive of (seeking) awareness and worshipping God – the Exalted – because (the believer) knows that God loves these qualities; not out of duplicity, doing so for other (than God) or for other motives.

The philosophy of the occultation of Imam Al-Mahdi (aj)
Date: 04/07/2012 A.D - H
Translated by: Manal Samhat
When considering the advantages and benefits of having an absent Imam, two points must be taken into consideration:
First: We must consider the case of the Imamate which lives with the people and is directly connected with their lives, for an Imam is charged with propagating the Message of the Prophet of Allah (p.) and providing the people with all the knowledge they needed regarding the Islamic law and doctrine; a mission undertaken by all the Imams starting by Imam Ali (a.s.) and ending by Imam Al-Askari (a.s.).
They have nourished the people with all fields of knowledge that they did not need to resort to anyone else. It has been related that during the minor occultation of Imam Al-Mahdi (aj.), the Shiites used to communicate with the Imam via letters sent by his four deputies.
As for the major occultation, when people resorted to him in problems that could not be easily resolved, he told them: “As to the occurring events, refer to the narrators of our Hadiths, they are my argument against you, and I am the argument of Allah.”
Reports related by narrators, including Hadiths by the Prophet (p.) and the Imams (a.s.), have covered all subjects that people encountered in their daily lives and with regard to religion. Actually, all topics were attended to, leaving no gaps behind. It has been narrated that: “Scholars are the heirs of the prophets,” since the latter have left behind a heritage of knowledge rather than materialistic possession. It is narrated that the Prophet (p.) said: “Scholars are the ones entrusted by the prophets until they indulge in the worldly pleasures.” The Prophet (p.) was then asked: “What are worldly pleasures?”
He answered: “Following an unjust ruler to attain money. Such scholars who support an unjust ruler would wage war one day and call for peace in another, according to their own benefits; thus, you should protect your religion against them.”
Accordingly, we must get to know whether a scholar has more love and loyalty to Allah or he indulges in this world.
The second stage was as follows: All the Imams dedicated their time to enlighten the people and provide them with all the information they needed about the message.
However, Imam Al-Mahdi (aj.) is assigned with a different mission; that is, to rule the world on the basis of justice and uprightness and to propagate the Message of Islam all around the world. In addition, certain Hadiths mention how Jesus Christ (p.) will reappear with Imam Al-Mahdi (aj.), pledge alliance to him and open up to Islam.
Prophet Muhammad (p.) was able to deliver the Message of Islam in a certain region, and [the Message kept on propagating until] eventually the Muslims, around the world, reached around a billion and several millions. However, after the reappearance of the Imam (aj), Islam will end up in reining the world.
Establishing justice: The Message’s objective
The second point to consider is establishing justice on Earth, which is the objective of the Imam’s message: “And when you speak, then be just though it be your relative,” (06:152), “O you who believe! Be maintainers of justice, bearers of witness of Allah’s sake, thought it may be against yourselves or your parents to near relatives, if he be rich or poor.” (04:135). Since the Imam’s (aj.) objective is to rule justly, then his followers must adhere to the same concept. Those who wish to be among the Imam’s soldiers must never treat their wives, children, neighbors, and employees unjustly, since the followers of the Imam are warriors for the sake of justice and righteousness.
While we are awaiting the reappearance of Imam Al-Mahdi (aj.), we must prepare ourselves to be qualified adherers, followers, and supporters. We must note that being unjust sets us further away from the path of righteousness.

💠Imam Muhammad Baqir (peace be with him) has stated:
📍"O community of Shi'a-- Shi'a of the household of Muhammad-- be like the middle saddle cushion, on which the extremist who has slid forward falls back, and with which the follower who is yet to come catches up.
🔹Upon hearing this, a man called Sa'd from among the ansar asked him: 'may I be at you ransom, who is an extremist?'
📍Imam replied: 'They are a group of people who say such things about us that we do not say about ourselves. Neither are these people from among us, nor do we associate with them'.
🔹The man asked: 'who is a follower yet to come?'
📍Imam replied: 'the one who is searching for good and wants it, and who will eventually attain it and be rewarded for it'.

PROPHET'S HISTORIC GHADIR SERMON
Part Vll
O people! " Fear Allah as He ought to be feared, and do not die except as Muslims" (Qur'an, 3:102). O people! " ...Believe in what We have revealed, verifying what you have, before We alter faces then turn them on their backs or curse them as We cursed the violators of the Sabbath" (Qur'an, 4:47). By Allah! Redid not imply anyone in this verse except a certain band of my sahaba whom I know by name and by lineage, and I have been ordered (by my Lord) to pardon them; so, let each person deal with ' Ali according to what he finds in his heart of love or of hatred.
O people! The noor from Allah, the Exalted One and the Sublime, flows through me then through ‘Ali ibn Abu Talib then in the progeny that descends from him till al-Qa'imal-Mehdi, who shall effect the justice of Allah, and who will take back any right belonging to us because Allah, the Exalted and the Sublime, made us Hujjat over those who take us lightly, the stubborn ones, those who act contrarily to our word, who are treacherous, who are sinners, who are oppressors, who are usurpers, from the entire world.
O people! I warn you that I am the Messenger of Allah; messengers before me have already passed away; so, should I die or should I be killed, are you going to turn upon your heels? And whoever turns upon his heels shall not harm Allah in the least, and Allah shall reward those who are grateful, those who persevere. 'Ali is surely the one described with perseverance and gratitude, then after him are my offspring from his loins.
O people! Do not think that you are doing me a favour by your accepting Islam. Nay! Do not think that you are doing Allah such a favour lest He should void your deeds, lest His wrath should descend upon you, lest He should try you with a flame of fire and brass; surely your Lord is ever-watchful.
O people! There shall be Imams after me who shall invite people to the fire, and they shall not be helped on the Day of Judgment.
O people! Allah and I are both clear of them.
O people! They and their supporters and followers shall be in the lowest rung of the fire; miserable, indeed, is the resort of the arrogant ones. Indeed, these are the folks of the sahifa; so, let each one of you look into his sahifa!
This reference to the sahifa has been overlooked by most people with the exception of a small band and we will Insha-Allah shed a light on this sahifa later on.

PROPHET'S HISTORIC GHADIR SERMON
Part IX
Indeed, their (Imams') friends are the ones whom Allah, the Exalted One, the Great, mentions in His Book saying, "You shall not find a people who believe in Allah and in the latter Day befriending those who act in opposition to Allah and to His Prophet, even though they may be their own fathers or sons or brothers or kinsfolk; these are they into whose hearts He has impressed conviction" (Qur'an, 58:22). Indeed, their (Imams') friends are the mu'mins (believers) whom Allah, the Exalted One, the Sublime, describes as: "Those who believe and do not mix up their faith with iniquity, those are the ones who shall have the security, and they are the rightly guided" (Qur'an, 6:82).
Indeed, their friends are those who believed and never doubted. Indeed, their friends are the ones who shall enter Paradise in peace and security; the angels shall receive them with welcome saying, "Peace be upon you! Enter it and reside in it forever!"
Indeed, their friends shall be rewarded with Paradise where they shall be sustained without having to account for anything.
Indeed, their enemies are the ones who shall be hurled into the fire.
Indeed, their enemies are the ones who shall hear the exhalation of hell as it increases in intensity, and they shall see it sigh.
Indeed, their enemies are the ones thus described by Allah: "Whenever a nation enters, it shall curse its sister..." (Qur'an, 7:38).
Indeed, their enemies are the ones whom Allah, the Exalted One and the Sublime, describes thus: "Whenever a group is cast into it, its keepers shall ask them: Did any warner not come to you? They shall say: Yea! Indeed, there came to us a warner but we rejected (him) and said: Allah has not revealed anything; you are only in a great error. And they shall say: Had we but listened or pondered, we would not have been among the inmates of the burning fire. So they shall acknowledge their sins, but far will be forgiveness) from the inmates of the burning fire" (Qur'an, 67:8-11).
Indeed, their friends are the ones who fear their Lord in the unseen; forgiveness shall be theirs and a great reward.
O people! What a difference it is between the fire and the great reward! .
O people! Our enemy is the one whom Allah censures and curses, whereas our friend is everyone praised and loved by Allah.
O people! I am the Warner (nathir) and' Ali is the one who brings glad tidings (bashir).
O people! I am the one who warns (munthir) while 'Ali is the guide (hadi).
O people! I am a Prophet (nabi) and' Ali is the successor (wasi).
O people! I am a Messenger (rasul) and' Ali is the Imam and the Wasi after me, and so are the Imams after him from among his offspring. Indeed, I am their father, and they shall descend from his loins.
Indeed, the seal of the lmams from among us is al-Qa'im al-Mehdi. He, indeed, is the one who shall come out so that the creed may prevail. He, indeed, is the one who shall seek revenge against the oppressor. He, indeed, is the one who conquers the forts and demolishes them. He, indeed, is the one who subdues every tribe from among the people of polytheism and the one to guide it.

Moral Characteristics of the Prophets: A Qur'anic Perspective
By
Mahnaz Heydarpoor & Mohammad Ali Shomali

Part two
8.His heart is strengthened by God
Whatever We relate to you of the accounts of the apostles are those by which We strengthen your heart, and there has come to you in this [surah] the truth and an advice and admonition for the faithful. (11:120)
The faithless say, 'Why has not the Qur'an been sent down to him all at once?' So it is, that We may strengthen your heart with it, and We have recited it [to you] in a measured tone. (25:32)
9.He puts his trust in God
Thus have We sent you to a nation before which many nations have passed away, that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you. Yet they defy the All-beneficent. Say, 'He is my Lord; there is no god except Him; in Him I have put my trust, and to Him will be my return.' (13:30)
Whatever thing you may differ about, its judgment is with God. That is God, my Lord. In Him I have put my trust, and to Him I turn penitently. (42:10)
10.Mercy to all the inhabitants of the world:
We did not send you but as a mercy to all the nations. (21:107)
11.Trustworthy:
[saying,] 'Give over the servants of God to me; indeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you. (44:18)
12.Hard against the faithless
Muhammad, the Apostle of God, and those who are with him are hard against the faithless and merciful amongst themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in worship], seeking God's grace and [His] pleasure. Their mark is [visible] on their faces, from the effect of prostration. Such is their description in the Torah and their description in the Evangel.
Like a tillage that sends out its shoots and builds them up, and they grow stout and settle on their stalks, impressing the sowers, so that He may enrage the faithless by them. God has promised those of them who have faith and do righteous deeds
forgiveness and a great reward. (48:29)
13.Devotion to God
Muhammad, the Apostle of God, and those who are with him are hard against the faithless and merciful amongst themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in worship], seeking God's grace and [His] pleasure. Their mark is [visible] on their faces, from the effect of prostration.(48:29)
Indeed your Lord knows that you stand vigil nearly two thirds of the night -or [at times] a half or a third of it- along with a group of those who are with you. (73:20)
14.Great character
Nun. By the Pen and what they write: you are not, by your Lord's blessing, crazy, and yours indeed will be an everlasting reward, and indeed you possess a great character. You will see and they will see, which one of you is crazy. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided.
(68:1-4)
15.Good example
In the Apostle of God there is certainly for you a good exemplar, for those who look forward to God and the Last Day, and remember God greatly. (33:21)

Acting the Ashoura Events
Date: 01/12/2011 A.D - H
An interview with Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Husain Fadhlollah
Translated by: Manal Samhat
http://english.bayynat.org.lb/Ashoura/Ashoura_Events.htm#.W5nqK9EpCf0
Q: You have recently called for acting and performing the Husseini tragedy of the Imam’s martyrdom on both theatre and television. Do not you think that you will face many objections from different jurists, since this could be unfamiliar to people and to jurists as well?
A: I do not think that well-educated and open-minded jurists who are fully aware of modern technology and its impact on the modern man would reject that from a jurisprudential point of view, if the means conform to the Islamic criteria. Indeed, we are all fully aware that the modern man is capable of using such technologies to deliver his messages. Similarly, Islam would make use of them so as to be widely spread and universally understood.
I know that some jurists and even ordinary people usually fear what is new and are wary of undertaking new steps, thinking that this newness would undermine what they are used to. However, we believe that swimming against the current is risky and needs patience; so, we advise those who are creative by their nature and are always looking for the best to endure the difficulties that will be facing them.
We all agree that customs are neither the end of the world nor they possess any sense of holiness. Thus, Allah, the Most Exalted, orders us in His Holy Book to liberate ourselves from the constraints of blind traditions and conventions. Allah wants us to observe, contemplate and think about such customs, in a way that makes us accept what conforms to our Islamic concepts and reject what does not, for Allah says: "We have found our fathers following a certain religion; we are merely walking in their footsteps. Each (apostle) said: What if I bring you a better guidance than that which you found your fathers following? But they replied: We deny the message you have brought." (43:23-24). Thus, we do not sanctify what is familiar. We believe that we ought to accompany the developments of life in a way that conforms to the Islamic general guidelines, which we do not believe that developing the ways of showing the tragedy of Ashoura violates.
Q: The act of changing the way we celebrate Ashoura to fit the mentality of this century is so important. But do not you think that this step will be followed by many others and lead to influential changes to several other Islamic concepts and issues in the coming generations?
A: Islamic concepts and thoughts are constant in their original and real content, but, here, we are talking about changing the means of expression and not the content. However, it has certain dynamism in Ijtihad, as a result of addressing new issues. Therefore, we do not usually fear the changes we have made or we are still making just because we are afraid that it will surpass the Islamic lines. We believe that the open minded and watchful jurists who understand the content of the Islamic conception and the mentality of our generations constitute a guarantee against any deviation.

⭐️ And you will see them being exposed to the Fire, humbled from humiliation, looking from [behind] a covert glance. And those who had believed will say, "Indeed, the [true] losers are the ones who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, the wrongdoers are in an enduring punishment." (45)
⭐️ And there will not be for them any allies to aid them other than Allah. And whoever Allah sends astray - for him there is no way. (46)
⭐️ Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that day, nor for you will there be any denial. (47)
⭐️ But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful. (48)
⭐️ To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males. (49)
⭐️ Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent. (50)
⭐️ And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise. (51)
⭐️ And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path - (52)

When they shouted and complained to Imam Ali (peace be with him) as to why he distributes public treasury to the (general mass) people first, and doesn't give more to those who had a role in (the rise of) Islam and have prestige and reputation. He (peace be with him replied):

If we don’t judge and measure our “self” then when will we judge ourselves...
How much (should we be miserable in this) negligence? Until when will we remain in denial and negligence??....
These lectures (Majālis) are for remembrance of God. (They are) For remembrance of the day when we will suffer if we don’t repent now.....
(Woe with the) Negligence, Negligence, Negligence and Negligence
(Woe with the) Offense, Offense, Offense and offence....
And we say Maula Ali will do something (to bail us out)! How is this possible?
Haaj Mirza Ali Shirazi this great pious man once related to me about his spiritual vision (Mokashefeh) (when once he was angry), that he saw his anger in a shape of a (vicious) dog.....
(Compared to that great man) then who are me and you??.....

Imam Al-Husein peace be with him wanted to integrate reform into the nation, with all its individuals and diversity. He said: "Whoever accepts me by accepting the truth, surely God rewards him for supporting the truth. And whoever rejects me, I will be patient until God judges between me and these people justly. Surely, His Almighty is the Best Judge of the judges." It is reported that the first statement Imam Al-Husein peace be with him gave when he went out of Mecca was: "O' people, the Messenger of God said: Whoever sees an aggressive tyrant legalizes the forbidden acts of God, breaches divine laws, opposes the tradition of the Prophet, oppresses the worshippers of God, but does not concede his opposition to God in word or in deed, surely Allah will place him with this tyrant." It is our religious duty to topple an unjust regime, and God shall punish anyone who abstains from fulfilling this duty and reward he who does. Imam Al-Husein peace be with him adds: "Those have obeyed Satan…" So, Imam Al-Husein peace be with him wanted to change the reality, laying emphasis to two points:
First: the sovereignty of the law, after they stopped applying the punishment system put forward by Islam; a punishment system that must be applied under an Islamic state.
Second: Releasing the money of the nation from their hands, after they have monopolized it, because the money of the nation of that of Allah.
Therefore, we are not allowed to give Ashoura a sectarian aspect and regard it as a Shiite issue. Ashoura is an Islamic occasion and the slogans raised by Imam Al-Husein peace be with him are all Islamic and humanitarian ones. Imam Al-Husein peace be with him was also loved by the Muslims and he used to love them all. Everyone used to repeat: "
Al-Hasan peace be with him and Al-Husein peace be with him are the masters of the youth of Heaven."
Ashoura is an occasion that rests on the Islamic and humanitarian values that characterized the personality of Imam Al-Husein peace be with him. These values embodied the leader and the leader embodied the values. So, if you see Imam Al-Husein peace be with him, you see Islam in itself and if you study Islam, you will come across Al-Husein peace be with him, without feeling any kind of duality, because Al-Husein peace be with him integrated in Islam and Islam lived in his mind, heart and movement. Even in his Jihad, Imam Al-Husein peace be with him was a martyr for the sake of Islam.
Therefore, we should not separate between the person and the cause; because many people, particularly those who carry out certain backward customs, such as those who practice the bloodletting ritual, do not realize the meaning and significance of Ashoura and Karbala, nor do they understand the reality of the Islamic state, in terms of the threats of the tyrants and arrogant powers. This is how we should approach Ashoura; we should look at the problems and threats overshadowing the Islamic world, because the Islamic world should not remain at the sidelines of the arrogant world.
Though as Muslims we represent 1.5 billion of the world's population, we are still living at the sidelines of the world's decisions. We do not have the right to participate in any of these decisions. How powerful are other countries? This is because we lost the sense of direction, represented by the civilized and tolerant Islam, which is open to the issues of freedom, justice and human rights. Every year, we come up with a new backward ritual, which does not represent Islam or Al-Husein peace be with him.

Prophet Mohammad’s Sermon of Sha’bāniyeh (peace be with him and his Progeny) خطبه شعبانيه
Part One
It has been reported from Imām Aba-l Hassan Ali ibn Mūsa-r Redha who narrated from his fathers from the leader of the believers Ali ibn-e Abi Talib (peace be with them) who said:
“One day the messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and his progeny) addressed us and said:
‘O’ people! Indeed ahead of you is the blessed month of Almighty God;
A month of blessing, mercy and forgiveness. A month which with Allah is the best of months;
Its days, the best of days, its nights, the best of nights, and its hours, the best of hours. It is the month during which you are invited to be the guests of God and you are placed to be from people of Allah’s dignity
Each breath you take glorifies him; your sleep is worship, your deeds
are accepted and your supplications are answered.
So, invoke Allah, your Lord, with honest intentions and pure hearts to grant you success in fasting and reciting his Book in this month.
Therefor miserable is certainly the one who is deprived of Allah's forgiveness in this great month.
Remember the hunger and thirst of the day of Judgment with your hunger and thirst (while fasting); give alms to the needy and poor, Pay respect to your elders, have sympathy for your youngsters and maintain relations with your blood relatives.
Guard your tongues, close your eyes to the impermissible for your sight, close your ears to that which is forbidden to hear, show compassion and kindness to the orphans of people so compassion may be shown to your orphans.
Repent to Allah for your sins
and supplicate with raised hands at the times of prayer as these are the best times, during which Allah Almighty looks at His servants with mercy. And raise your hands to supplicate at the times of prayers for they are the best of times during which Allah the Almighty and Glorious looks towards His servants with mercy, answering them if they supplicate, responding them if they call Him, granting them if He is asked, and accepting if they entreat.
O People!
Indeed your souls are dependent on your deeds, so make it free by invoking Almighty God for forgiveness (Esteghfār). Your backs are heavily loaded from your sins, so lighten their loads by long prostrations. And know that Allah swears by His might that:
There is no punishment for the one who prays and prostrates and He shall not appall them from Hellfire on the day when man stands
before the Lord of the Worlds (the Doomsday).
O People! One who gives food after the sunset (Iftaar) to a fasting believer during this month will be like one who has freed a slave and his past sins will be forgiven.’
Some of the people who were there then asked the Prophet (God bless him and his progeny):
'Not all of us are able to invite those who are fasting?'
The Prophet replied: 'Keep yourself away from Hell-fire though it may consist of (even) half of a dried date or some water (if you have nothing else)'.
O’ People! One who has good morals (Akhlaq) during this month will be able to pass the bridge to Paradise (Siraat) on the day when feet will tend to slip. For anyone who during this month eases the workload of his servants, God will make easy his accounting, and for anyone who doesn't hurt others during this month, God will safeguard him from His Wrath on the Day of Judgment.
As for one who honors (take care) of an orphan during this month; God will honor him on that Day.
And for the one who treats his blood relatives (and connects ties with them) during this month, God will bestow His Mercy on him on that Day.
As for the one who cuts the ties of relation with his blood relatives; God will cut and keep away His mercy from him.
Whosoever performs recommended prayers in this month God will save him from Hell-fire. And whoever offers an obligatory prayer during this month, his reward will be seventy times the reward during other months.
