🌹Imam Baqir (peace be with him) said to Jābir: O’ Jābir
💠"Is it enough to claim that one is a 'Shia' under the excuse that he loves us (yet does not act upon our commandments)??
💠I swear by God that our Shia are those who have God-wariness and obedience exclusively to God (in that they base their lives on the values sourced from God’s Book and exemplified by the Prophet and his progeny).
💠O, Jabir! They (the true Shi’as) can be identified through their traits:
Modesty, humbleness, safekeeping of trusts (and secrets), much remembrance of God, (adherence to) prayers and fasting, unasked kindness to parents, being diligent toward the poor neighbor, assistive to those who are poor but never seek help from others, supportive to the grief and tragedy stricken, (kind, welcoming, and giving) to the orphans, honesty in speech, studying into (the depths of) Qur’an, safeguarding the tongue (from speech) unless it be for goodness and (means of positive) reformation of people, and (both) to safe keep and be recognized as the righteous safe-keeper and trustee among his close ones.
❌Jabir said: ‘O, son of the Messenger of God, I do not know of even one Shi’a who be as such in this era.’
💠Imām Baqir said: ‘never pursue the groups and creeds who only say: I love Ali’, but they do not practice (his wisdom & teachings), and do not grasp the essence of lifestyle of Imam Ali into his life.
💠And if they (the Ali lovers) say that they love the Prophet (too), then (they should know) the Prophet is greater than Ali (peace be with him). Hence, they do not follow the mannerism (of living) nor apply the practices and traditions of the Prophet into their life, and (as a result) loving him shall not benefit them at all.
💠Therefore, acquire God-consciousness and know that which is with God. There is no kinship between God and anyone. The most beloved to God the exalted is one who is generous in giving, God-conscious, and most obedient to His commands.
💠O, Jabir! Nobody gets near to God except through the means of obedience to Him. And (simply because) you or whoever is with us (to be a Shi’a) does not mean immunity from the hellfire. And nobody can bring any excuse or complain whatsoever (since God has given everyone all the explanations and chances for them to accept the truth).
💠Whoever obeys God is our close friend and intimate.
💠(But) whoever is a person of sin and vice in the presence of God is our enemy.
💠And nobody can reach (the sanctuary of) our guardianship except through action (and not just claim), and diligence in the avoidance of the unlawful”.
