The traditional account of the Prophet Muhammad’s ascension has inspired generations of writers and storytellers from the beginnings of Islam until today. By the tenth century, narratives describing Muhammad’s encounter with prophets and angels, his colloquy with God, and his visits of heaven and hell lead to the formation of the ""Book of Ascension,"" a novelizing and engaging literary genre most commonly written in Arabic and Seljuk Turkic. This is the study of an extremely rare Persian ""Book of Ascension,"" which was written in Persian by an anonymous author and dates from the Ilkhanid Period (1256-1353). Christiane Gruber presents an English translation alongside the original manuscript text, together with critical commentary. The text appears to promote adherence, as well as to encourage conversion, to Sunni Islam -- providing a fascinating insight into the interplay between artistic practices and missionary efforts aimed at promoting Sunni Islam in Persian lands during Ilkhanid rule.

If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.
On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves-and the world-for the better.
Admiral McRaven's original speech went viral with over 10 million views. Building on the core tenets laid out in his speech, McRaven now recounts tales from his own life and from those of people he encountered during his military service who dealt with hardship and made tough decisions with determination, compassion, honor, and courage. Told with great humility and optimism, this timeless book provides simple wisdom, practical advice, and words of encouragement that will inspire readers to achieve more, even in life's darkest moments.

How did pious medieval Muslims experience health and disease? Rooted in the prophet’s experiences with medicine and healing, Muslim pietistic literature developed cosmologies in which physical suffering and medical interventions interacted with religious obligations and spiritual health. This book traces the development of prophetic medical literature and religious writings around health and disease to give a new perspective on how patienthood was conditioned by the intersection of medicine and Islam.
The author investigates the early and foundational writings on prophetic medicine and related pietistic writings on health and disease produced during the Islamic Classical Age. Looking at attitudes from and towards clerics, physicians and patients, sickness and health are gradually revealed as a social, gendered, religious, and cultural experience. Patients are shown to experience certain sensoria that are conditioned not only by medical knowledge, but also by religious and pietistic attitudes.
This is a fascinating insight into the development of Muslim pieties and the traditions of medical practice. It will be of great interest to scholars interested in Islamic Studies, history of religion, history of medicine, science and religion and the history of embodied religious practice, particularly in matters of health and medicine.

🔆 Prophet Mohammad’s speech about month of Ramadhān | Part 1 🔆
🍃🔆🍃 "O people! A month has approached you laden with blessing, mercy and forgiveness; it is a month which Almighty Allah regards as the best of all months.
🍃🔆🍃 Its days, in the sight of Almighty Allah, are the best of days, its nights are the best of nights, its hours are the best of hours.
🍃🔆🍃 It is a month in which you are invited to be the guests of Almighty Allah and you are regarded during it as worthy of enjoying Almighty Allah's generosity.
🍃🔆🍃 Your breathing in it is regarded as praising Almighty Allah and your sleep as adoration, and your voluntary acts of worship are accepted, and your pleas are answered.
🔹🍃🔹 Therefore, ask Almighty Allah your Lord, in sincere intentions and pure hearts to enable you to fast during it and to recite His Book, for only a wretch is the one who is deprived of Almighty Allah's forgiveness during this great month.
🔹🍃🔹 And let your hunger and thirst during it remind you of the hunger and thirst of the day of resurrection.
🔹🍃🔹 Give alms to the poor and indigent ones among you; surround your elderly with respect, and be kind to your youngsters.
🔹🍃🔹 Visit your kin and safeguard your tongues and do not look at what Allah has decreed as prohibitive for you to look at, and do not listen to anything your ears are forbidden from hearing. Be kind to the orphans of others, so that your own orphans will equally receive kindness.
🔹🍃🔹 Repent your sins to Almighty Allah and raise your hands to Him in supplication during the times of your prayers, for they are the best times during which Almighty Allah looks with mercy to His servants and answers their pleas when they plead Him......

Books in the lives of Scholars
Marhoom Allameh Mohammad Taqi Sheikh Shooshtari never parted from books until the last seconds of life. He said:
"There were days where I prayed the five prayers with one wudhu (ablution). It was such that I performed wudhu for the Dhohr and Asr prayers, and prayed Maghrib, Esha (evening), and the Fajr (early morning) prayers also with the same ablution. During the time in between, I was so drowned in research and study that I forgot about other things (which may also have been necessary chores)".
This man, in his thirst for knowing (Qor’anic values, facts and realities) used to say:
"I used to sleep with books (on me) and woke up with books (all over me). I used to enter the room and close the door behind me so that I wouldn't be disturbed while studying".
One time he even said:
"Sometimes situations would (make me) take book(s) to the bath house with me".
I'd visit him frequently as he was ill and not well, however despite this, he still wanted and cooperated to start his work (of reading and researching), and used to say:
"I forget about all my pains when I put effort in writing and research".

Prophet Mohammad’s Sermon of Sha’bāniyeh (peace be with him and his Progeny) خطبه شعبانيه
Part One
It has been reported from Imām Aba-l Hassan Ali ibn Mūsa-r Redha who narrated from his fathers from the leader of the believers Ali ibn-e Abi Talib (peace be with them) who said:
“One day the messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and his progeny) addressed us and said:
‘O’ people! Indeed ahead of you is the blessed month of Almighty God;
A month of blessing, mercy and forgiveness. A month which with Allah is the best of months;
Its days, the best of days, its nights, the best of nights, and its hours, the best of hours. It is the month during which you are invited to be the guests of God and you are placed to be from people of Allah’s dignity
Each breath you take glorifies him; your sleep is worship, your deeds
are accepted and your supplications are answered.
So, invoke Allah, your Lord, with honest intentions and pure hearts to grant you success in fasting and reciting his Book in this month.
Therefor miserable is certainly the one who is deprived of Allah's forgiveness in this great month.
Remember the hunger and thirst of the day of Judgment with your hunger and thirst (while fasting); give alms to the needy and poor, Pay respect to your elders, have sympathy for your youngsters and maintain relations with your blood relatives.
Guard your tongues, close your eyes to the impermissible for your sight, close your ears to that which is forbidden to hear, show compassion and kindness to the orphans of people so compassion may be shown to your orphans.
Repent to Allah for your sins
and supplicate with raised hands at the times of prayer as these are the best times, during which Allah Almighty looks at His servants with mercy. And raise your hands to supplicate at the times of prayers for they are the best of times during which Allah the Almighty and Glorious looks towards His servants with mercy, answering them if they supplicate, responding them if they call Him, granting them if He is asked, and accepting if they entreat.
O People!
Indeed your souls are dependent on your deeds, so make it free by invoking Almighty God for forgiveness (Esteghfār). Your backs are heavily loaded from your sins, so lighten their loads by long prostrations. And know that Allah swears by His might that:
There is no punishment for the one who prays and prostrates and He shall not appall them from Hellfire on the day when man stands
before the Lord of the Worlds (the Doomsday).
O People! One who gives food after the sunset (Iftaar) to a fasting believer during this month will be like one who has freed a slave and his past sins will be forgiven.’
Some of the people who were there then asked the Prophet (God bless him and his progeny):
'Not all of us are able to invite those who are fasting?'
The Prophet replied: 'Keep yourself away from Hell-fire though it may consist of (even) half of a dried date or some water (if you have nothing else)'.
O’ People! One who has good morals (Akhlaq) during this month will be able to pass the bridge to Paradise (Siraat) on the day when feet will tend to slip. For anyone who during this month eases the workload of his servants, God will make easy his accounting, and for anyone who doesn't hurt others during this month, God will safeguard him from His Wrath on the Day of Judgment.
As for one who honors (take care) of an orphan during this month; God will honor him on that Day.
And for the one who treats his blood relatives (and connects ties with them) during this month, God will bestow His Mercy on him on that Day.
As for the one who cuts the ties of relation with his blood relatives; God will cut and keep away His mercy from him.
Whosoever performs recommended prayers in this month God will save him from Hell-fire. And whoever offers an obligatory prayer during this month, his reward will be seventy times the reward during other months.

Imām Ja’far Sādiq
Part -1
Ja'far ibn Muhammad known as Imam Ja'far Sadegh (peace be with him) (148-83 AH) is the sixth Imam of the Shiites after his father Imam Baqir (peace be with him). He led the Shiites for 34 years (114-148 AH), which coincided with the caliphate of the last five Umayyad caliphs, namely Hisham ibn Abd Malik, and the first two caliphs, Abbasi Safah and Mansour Dwaniqi. Imam Sadegh (peace be with him) due to the weakness of the Umayyad rule, had much more academic activity than other Shiite Imams. The number of his students and narrators has reached at 4,000. Most of the narrations of Ahl Bayt (peace be with them) are from Imam Sadegh and therefore the Imami Shiite religion is also called Jafari religion.
Imam Sadegh (peace be with him) also has a high position among the Sunni jurisprudential scholars. Abu Hanifa and Malik bin Anas have narrated a lot from him. Abu Hanifa considers him the most learned person among all Muslims scholars.
Despite the weakness of the Umayyad government and the request of the Shiites, Imam Sadegh did not revolt against the government. He rejected the demands of Abu Muslim Khorasani and Abu Salma to take over the caliphate. Imam Sadegh (peace be with him) did not participate in the uprising of his uncle Zayd bin Ali and also prevented the Shiites from revolting; However, he did not have good relations with the rulers of his time. Due to the political pressures of the Umayyad and Abbasid governments, he used the method of Taqiyyah and advised his allies and followers to do the same.
Imam Sadegh formed the Advocacy Organization in order to communicate more with the Shiites, answer their religious questions, receive religious funds and address the problems of the Shiites. The activity of this organization expanded during the time of the later Imams and reached its peak in the occultation of Imam of our time. During his time, the activity of the exaggerators (ghāli) expanded. He dealt severely with the idea of exaggeration and introduced the exaggerators as infidels and polytheists.
