In the late fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, courtliness was crucial to the political and cultural life of the Deccan. Divided between six states competing for territory, resources and skills, the medieval and early modern Deccan was a region of striking ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity. People used multifaceted trans-regional networks - mercantile, kinship, friendship and intellectual - to move across the Persian-speaking world and to find employment at the Deccan courts. This movement, Emma J. Flatt argues, was facilitated by the existence of a shared courtly disposition. Engagement in courtly skills such as letter-writing, perfume-making, astrological divination, performing magic, sword-fighting and wrestling thus became a route to both worldly success and ethical refinement. Using a diverse range of treatises, chronicles, poetry and letters, Flatt unpicks the ways this challenged networks of acceptable behaviour and knowledge in the Indo-Islamicate courtly world - and challenges the idea of pe

🔰What is 'Sirat ul-Mustaqeem'?🔰
🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸
📜Imam al-Sadiq (peace be with him) said regarding the meaning of ‘the [straight] path’:
🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸
🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
"It is the way to the inner knowledge of Allah, Mighty and Exalted, and there are actually two paths – one in this world and one in the Hereafter. As for the path in this world’s life, it is the Imam whom one is obliged to obey. He who acknowledges him in this world and follows his guidance will be able to [successfully] cross the path of the Hereafter, which is a bridge outstretched over the Fire".

Today marks the demise of Hadhrat Abu Dhar al-Ghifari (ra); one of the greatest companions and helpers of Prophet Muhammad (S) and Imam Ali (as).
After the demise of the Holy Prophet (S), Abu Dhar was among the few companions that supported and stayed alongside Imam Ali (as). As a loyal and true companion, Abu Dhar always defended the rights of the Ahlul-Bayt and spoke out against their enemies. As a result of this activism for truth and justice, Abu Dhar was exiled to the land of al-Rabadha where he eventually passed away.
The Holy Prophet (S) had predicted this in a hadith where he said: "O Abu Dhar! You will live alone, and die alone, and be resurrected alone, and enter the paradise alone."
Tafsir al-Qummi, vol.1, p. 295
May Allah give us the strength to defend the Ahlul-Bayt as Abu Dhar did and to follow his footsteps.
Zainab The Woman Who Saved Islam
by Marwa Osman*
“O the people of Kufah! Woe be upon you! Do you know which part (the heart) of the Messenger of Allah you have cut? And which vow you have broken? And whose blood you have shed? And which respected family you have brought to the public (as captives)? And whose sanctity you have violated? You have done that, which could tear down the skies, open the earth, and make the mountains vanish. As far as the earth goes and as deep as the skies go, your obvious deed has no like, no similarity and no decency. Indeed you have done the ugliest, the most grievous and gruesome deed.”
With these words Hadhrat Zainab bint Ali (peace be with them) confronted the people of Kufa who betrayed their Imam in Karbala.
There is no doubt that Hadhrat Zainab is the shining sun in the history of Islam and of humanity. Her brother's name “Imam Husain” and Karbala associate the idea of freedom, justice, humanity, virtue, fighting against despotism, with the realization of the sovereignty of Allah.
To fully comprehend the message of Karbala one has to fathom two thoughts. One is the rising of Imam Husain (as) and the other is the rising of Zainab (as). Hadhrat Zainab (as) was an outstanding figure in the history of Karbala endowed with divine steadfastness and fortitude. After the martyrdom of her brother and her two sons (family members and best friends) in the battle of Karbala, Hadhrat Zainab stood tall and said: "O my Lord! Accept our humble sacrifice to You."
Hadhrat Zainab (as) became famous for her virtuous life. In her character she reflected the best attributes. In sobriety and serenity she was likened to her grand-mother Umm-al Mumineen Hadhrat Khadijah (as), in chastity and modesty to her holy mother Hadhrat Fatimah (as) and in eloquence to her father, leader of the believers Imam Ali (peace be with him).
Hadhrat Zainab proclaimed to the world the greatest sacrifices made by her brother Imam Husain (as) and other members of the family of the Holy Prophet of Islam (saw) who were brutally martyred at Karbala in 61 A.H by the forces of Yazid son of Muawiya.
On the other hand, the women and children witnessed the very inhumane and merciless violence that took place in Karbala, yet they were not desperate, depressed, they did not collapse, despite all the pain and challenges, they were contrary the opposite. They stood up, spoke up and held Yazid responsible. They had no fear or anxiety but rather were very strong and decisive in their stances.
A part of the sermon Hadhrat Zainab (as) gave with utmost bravery in the gathering of Yazid son of Muawiya in Syria shook his majlis (gathering) and still echoes through time and space:
“By Allah (SWT), you cannot remove us from the minds (of righteous people), and you cannot fade our message. You will never reach our glory and can never wash the stain of this crime from your hands. Your decisions will not be stable, your period of ruling will be short, and your population will scatter. In that day, a voice will shout: "Indeed may the curse of Allah (SWT) be upon the oppressors..."
Righteous people should not at all be affected by the harsh circumstances they undergo, that is exactly what Hadhrat Zeinab (as) stressed in her speeches.
She reiterated they (AhlulBayt) are the people of strong presence, strength, confidence and faith despite the drastic and harsh calamity that fell upon her and her family. The prophet's household turned this threat into an opportunity and made use of the entire situation and the circumstances they went through lead by the courageous Hadhrat Zainab (as).
A model of defiance against oppression and injustice. A woman of patience and endurance. There was no act of worship greater than continuing the rising of her brother, delivering fiery sermons in the path of Kufa and Syria, and awakening ignorant people who were deceived by poisonous propaganda of Yazid son of Muawiya and martyred Imam Husain (as) as a man who was out of Islam.

🥩 MEAT: Part 1/2
Consumption of Meat in Hadith sourced from Prophet Muhammad and his Progeny (peace be with them)
📍What Meat is to be Eaten
💠 The last prophet of God, Prophet Mohammad ﷺ said: Cow's meat (beef) causes disease and its milk is medicine. Sheep's meat (mutton) is medicine and its milk causes disease.
📍Choosing the front shank of the animal
💠 Imam Ali: "the Prophet's favorite part of the lamb meat was the front shanks (front two limbs)"
📖[Tarikh Al Kabir, vol 6, p. 391]
💠 Imam Baqir: "The Prophet liked the front shanks (of lamb)"
📖[Kafi, vol. 6, p. 315]
💠 Musnad ibn Hanbal: narrated from Yahya ibn Ishaaq from a man who was from Bani Ghaffar who said, 'someone told me that they served meat and bread before the Prophet, whereat the Prophet said: "bring me the front shanks of the (lamb) meat", and thus we served him that and he ate it.
📖[Musnad ibn Hanbal, vol. 2, pg. 305]
Yahya said I khow this hadith as I mentioned here.
📖(Musnad ibn Hanbal, vol. 2, pg.305.
Bedayah wal-Nehayah, vol. 6, pg.121.)
📍Washing the Meat before cooking
💠 The Prophet said: "my brother Jesus (peace be with him) was passing by a town when he saw that the faces of it's people were yellowish and under their eyes was dark.
They came to Jesus and complained of the numerous diseases and illnesses. Jesus said: 'your cure is amongst yourselves. You cook your meat without washing and eat it, (while you should know) that nothing dies but with some kind of impurity'.
The people, thereafter, washed their meat and soon enough their diseases vanished."
📖[Bihar ul-Anwar, vol. 14, pg. 321 & vol. 62, pg. 161]
📍Moderation of eating Meat
💠 The Prophet of God: "whoever eats meat continuously for forty days will become cold hearted"
📖[Bihar ul-Anwar, vol. 62, pg. 294]
💠 Imam Ali (peace be with him): "Do not make your stomachs a cemetery for animals"
📖[Sharh Nahjul Balagha, vol. 1, pg. 26]
💠 Imam Sadiq: "Ali (peace be with him) considered addiction to meat as bad, and compared it to addiction to alcohol".
📖[Bihar ul-Anwar, vol. 66, pg. 69]
💠 It is recorded in a Hadith that, "whoever eats meat continuously for forty days will be cold hearted, and whoever refrains from eating meat at all will become bad tempered".
📖[Rabi,a-Al Abrar, vol. 2, pg. 706]
💠 The Prophet: "whoever doesn't eat meat for forty days will become bad tempered. Eat meat because it will increase your hearing abilities"
📖Al Firdos, vol. 3, pg. 627]
💠 Imam Ali narrates from the Prophet that: "upon you should be to eat meat, because it will strengthen your body. Whoever avoids meat for forty days will become bad tempered".
📖[Bihar ul-Anwar, vol. 66, pg. 56]
💠 The Prophet also said: "upon you is to eat meat because meat strengthens. If forty mornings without the consumption of meat pass by someone, he will become bad tempered, and whoever becomes bad tempered feed him meat. Whoever eats (alot of) meat fat, it will bring about sickness and disease in him".
📖[Bihar ul-Anwar, vol. 66, pg. 67]
💠 The Prophet has thus stated: "upon you is to eat meat, because whoever refrains from consuming it for forty days will become bad tempered. Whoever becomes bad tempered will become (easily) frustrated at himself, and whoever is (frequently) frustrated, the Adhan (Azaan) must be recited in their ears".
📖[Bihar ul-Anwar, vol. 66, pg. 75]
💠 The Prophet: "on whomsoever, forty days without consumption of meat passes by, he must place his trust in God and borrow some money from someone to buy and eat meat".

🌺 Prophet of God Jesus (peace be with him and his mother) said:
🌺 How can you work for this world when you are provided for therein without work, but not work for the Hereafter when you will not be provided for therein without work?
🌺 Verily, you are bad scholars, who take a salary for their duties and squander their deeds. The doer of a deed hurries to demand its reward, and you hurry to leave this wide world for the dark confines of the grave.
🌺 God forbade you from misdeeds as he ordered you to pray and fast. How can one displeased with his portion and who debases his rank (as a scholar) be counted amongst the people of knowledge?
🌺 When he knows of God's knowledge and power, how can one who accuses God by what He decrees for him and whom nothing can satisfy be counted amongst the people of knowledge? How can one over whom the world holds more sway than the Hereafter, who embraces the world and loves the thing that harms him more than the thing that benefits him be counted amongst the people of knowledge? How can one who seeks knowledge so that he can display it rather than act upon it be counted amongst the people of knowledge?

Commentary:
The more one contemplates about the reality of this short, transitory world, the more grief one finds.
As this awareness and understanding about the reality of the world and its followers increases, one will begin to see that the joys and comfort that people crave for are simply mirages in the desert that decieve the eye.
Thus, Imam Hasan (peace be with him) hints at this fact in which a believer who contemplates in depth will come to realize that the rewards and offers as promised by the world and its followers, as well as by our own fantasy and high expectations regarding the materialistic lavishes and luxuries, are all empty and void.
